Famous Ah Kang Duck/Fish

Porridge/Noddles/Rice

Family authentic recipe since 1960.

The duck porridge is amazingly taste good and unique. I can finished it one whole bowl alone. The Pomfret fish porridge is fresh. I can felt the sweetness from the fish itself. Both are recommended and sure will be back again. ***** Hooi Ping Boo

Very unique Teow Chew style braised duck porridge in which the porridge is like rice style. Full of spiced fragrance. Love the chilly sauce that paired with it. The ikan parang Kuey Teow also unique as not seen anyone sell ikan parang. The fish is naturally sweet and tasty. Super delicious both dishes. Will come back to try other dishes. ***** Rebecca Lee

About

Our Story Begins In the 1960's.

The stories begin back to 1960s in the little small town of Pekan Nenas, Johor where it began with Ah Kun who sold the braised duck porridge back then during the 1960s. The recipes was passed from Ah Kun to Ah Kang’s dad and they started selling them back in 1974.

Their signatures were braised duck porridge / kuay tiaw, ikan Parang and Pomfret porridge. Ah Kang’s dad was very particular in using a variety of special good materials in the porridge which enhanced the taste and give it a unique experience. It was a very popular stall in this small town. Ah Kang was with the business from the start since the age of 14 and learnt how to cook from his mum and dad. The business stopped in the late 1980s when the Ah Kang father passed away and his mum moved to Kuala Lumpur with him.

Ah Kang started the business again with his sibling in 2007 at Subang Jaya Section 14 under the name Restoran Tien Kee. Many from the small town of Pekan Nenas who moved to KL came afar to taste this famous Braised Duck and Ikan Parang porridge.  Many good reviews were written about them in the Stars, Sunday Mail and Subang Echo. The business was mainly run by Ah Kang’s brother, Raymond and Sister, Jacylyn. Business was very good right form the beginning and lasted  for three years. Finally due to failing health of Ah Kang’s mother the business could not carry on without her.

Now the business is revived in another exciting form. Ah Kang’s son JC mooted the idea that he wanted to revive his grandpa legacy and turn it into a famous hawker chain called Ah Kang famous Duck & Fish porridge/ noodle.
